Teleinternetcafe Architektur und Urbanismus (founded in Berlin in 2011) is a Berlin-based practice that operates at the interface of architecture and urban design. Teleinternetcafe’s work is characterized by process-oriented development strategies, cooperative approaches and an experimental approach to building and landscape typologies. An intensive engagement with the place and its situational qualities provides the starting point for the search for new and open forms of the city.

SABINE MULLER/ ANDREAS QUEDNAU

Sabine Muller is Professor for Urbanism at the Institute of Urbanism and Landscape. She is an architect and urban designer, and principal of SMAQ architecture urbanism and research in Berlin. Before establishing SMAQ she worked for West 8 (Rotterdam) and Asymptote (New York). Previously, she taught at the Delft University of Technology and at Bauhaus Dessau. She was an assistant professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a visiting critic at Cornell University. She received her Master in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and her Dipl.-Ing. in Architecture from the University of Kassel. Sabine Müller’s research and teaching focuses on urban design at the intersection of architecture, urbanism and landscape, while acknowledging infrastructure, ecology and processes of inhabitations as drivers of the urban environment.

Andreas Quednau is founding partner of SMAQ and Professor of Urban Design at Leibniz University Hannover. He received a Diploma in Architecture from Berlin University of Technology and a Master in Advanced Architectural Design (hons) from Columbia University, Graduate School for Architecture Planning and Preservation in New York. He worked for Diller Scofidio + Renfro (New York), KCAP (Rotterdam) and Arata Isozaki (Berlin) before establishing SMAQ with Sabine Müller in 2001 (2001-2005 located in Rotterdam, since 2005 located in Berlin). He has received several international awards including the Architectural Review Award for Emerging Architects and the Holcim Award for Sustainable Construction. He taught at the Berlin University of Technology (2005-2007 and 2008-2009) and was Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the Stuttgart State Academy for Art and Design, School of Architecture (2007-2008 and 2009-2015). In 2015 he was appointed Professor of Urban Design at Leibniz University Hannover, Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Sciences.
